Mosaic Soundz discusses the future of music in Canada. Canadian Community Arts Initiative will bring together Canadian and international singers and musicians for original collaborative repertoire development and video shoots, to create an extraordinary and unique experience. Mosaic Soundz will have a transformative effect on the cultural landscape of Canada, and reverberate through the music scene across the globe. For Canadians of all ethno-cultural perspectives it will pose the question: How do Canadians create and innovate in the context of Canada, while acknowledging their wider connections as part of a global diaspora? What does the future look like for music and culture, and how far has Canada come since its inception? Mosaic Soundz will create only original music audio and video which will be released at Spotify, Youtube and many other social media outlets and Mosaicsoundz.com.
Mosaic Soundz is the culmination of years of explorations in improvised music and fusion on the stages of the Mosaic Festival. It reflects our commitment to bringing together talents from diverse origins, and sparking intercultural dialogue. It is a legacy project for our festival, one that epitomizes our core values as a community arts organization.
Mosaic Soundz expands on the premise that the common ground between cultures far outweighs the differences. We are anticipating a creative process that works with an overlay on a landscape of folk and traditional music; world music; classical western music; classical South Asian music; blues; jazz; electronic; latin; and contemporary idioms will be a culmination of the groundwork we have laid to connect and foster dialogue among diverse cultures and musical genres.
We laid the groundwork for this initiative over several years by cultivating relationships with artists who are of a collaborative mindset, and who bring fresh and divergent musical perspectives that encompass a multitude of ethno-cultural perspectives.
The Season One of Mosaic Soundz has been shot at the RBC Theatre at Living Arts Centre and is currently in post-production stage. The Season One features Canadian artists keeping in line with organization’s priorities for 2021. This season features:
